We are pleased to open our successful electives program on an a la carte basis to homeschooling families not currently enrolled in Foundations First Christian. This is a good way to get a taste of the FFC Community!

Learn Spanish through storytelling! We draw, we act it out, we watch weird movies. All this and more when you learn to speak Spanish without endless vocabulary lists or verb conjugations. We also learn God's word through Spanish verses and songs. Full year course can be recorded on the transcript as Spanish 1 for one credit of foreign language.
This elective will meet twice weekly to cover the basic principles of Graphic Design which is the art of creating and arranging visual elements with confidence to communicate a message effectively. Students will create, explore and learn about typography, color theory, branding, marketing, logo design, packaging, and editorial or publication design layouts. Careers and Essential Skills will introduce students to possible career options. Parents and other business owners will speak with students about the paths God has led them down. Along with career exploration we will cover a broad range of topics that as our students develop they will benefit from being introduced to the topics. These topics will include many of life's challenges, skills, and day to day experiences.
What do you get when you combine the Bard with Whose Line is it Anyway? Shakespeare, methinks-- FFC-style! Come act out such famous scenes as "Romeo, Romeo, Wherefore art thou, Romeo?" and "To be, Or not to be-- that is the question" or even "Thou, O Wall, O sweet and lovely Wall." The first few weeks will be an introduction to baking basics, such as: kitchen “tools”, measurements and abbreviations found in recipes, basic ingredients and what each one does. We will have a test before we take our knowledge to the kitchen and put it to the test. Baked goods will include but are not limited to cookies, brownies, muffins, no bake options, et cetera. This elective will meet once weekly in the kitchen to develop advanced cooking, knife, chopping, and sauteing skills and for a variety of international recipes and sauces. This course is for 8th –11th graders with a 12-student maximum based upon first to enroll.
This elective will meet once weekly to mix up a plethora of non-bake recipes ranging from appetizers, main dishes and desserts. This course is for 4th – 7th graders with a 12-student maximum based upon first to enroll.
This course is filled with projects and activities that will engage your imagination, improve your collaborative participation, grow your creativity and develop your communication skills through creating sculptures of many kinds. By completing various hands-on assignments you will complete this elective with an understanding of both the technical skills and the materials utilized in sculpting. In this class, students will refine and share their performance gifts! Students will choose songs to perform solo or in a group number: sing, recite a monologue, poetry, perform a stand-up routine, or try something new. In February, we will open Singing Telegrams for our community. For our final performance, performers will select songs that will mismatch their typecast!
Strike up the band! Choose a woodwind, brass, and/or a percussion instrument to study and play. Students may bring their own instrument or rent an instrument through Hunterdon Music in Flemington. Students will need to purchase a lesson book for home practice.
Students will learn basic music theory and the fundamentals and techniques of bucket drumming! No experience needed. Each week students will learn rhythm patterns and we will pick a final song to perform at the Spring concert.
The first half of the semester will focus on navigating the keyboard. This will include developing proper posture and placement of hands on the keyboard, followed by lessons created from a book by Diana Hanbury King, “Writing Skills, Keyboard skills” and using Typing.com as a resource. There will be an assessment on the first day of class to see what skill level each student is at. Students will be expected to practice at home for at least five minutes a day. Warrior kid will be a mix of playing traditional games with relay style team competitions. As part of warrior kid we will be keeping a log of the other physical activities we participate in on a weekly basis outside of FFC.
Students will learn the fundamentals of several different sports and then spend time playing those sports with their classmates
Explore God’s creation in the great outdoors! Students will need to wear appropriate footwear and warm clothing in order to be outside during class.
