As the name implies, Dual Enrollment means you are simultaneously enrolled in both Foundations and a university. We are partnering with Colorado Christian University and LeTourneau University, both highly regarded Christian universities that teach all their classes from a biblical worldview. In addition, Colorado Christian University is strong in the liberal arts and LeTourneau University is a polytechnic university renowned for its programs in science, engineering, and technology
A biblical worldview is one thing that makes Foundation courses different from Dual Enrollment courses available elsewhere and fits with Foundations’ commitment to providing a Biblically-based education.
Another reason to consider Dual Enrollment at FFC is the opportunity to learn together with a other students, monitored by an experienced teacher who facilitates in-person discussions and assistance.
In Foundations, our Dual Enrollment courses have both an online component and an on-campus opportunity to discuss and work together. The online component is taught by one of the university’s professors, while the on-campus support class is led by a Foundations facilitator. This extra support approach eases High School students into the college coursework experience, enables them to go deeper into the course content, and helps them avoid online learning isolation and fatigue.
Learning in a cohort setting is a proven approach which not only makes online learning more effective, but more enjoyable. Research also shows that the increased community, support, collaboration, structure, and accountability of a blended learning approach leads to higher online course completion and better grades.
Our on-campus Dual Enrollment support classes are arranged on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday mornings on a semester basis beginning in late August and ending in May. When not in class, students are free to leave campus to pursue other learning or extra-curricular opportunities, but many students will want to stay on campus to complete their Dual Enrollment online learning individually or with other students in small groups, or take one or more of our regular Foundations High School Humanities, Math, Science, or Elective courses.
Online, professor-led teaching segments are provided through on-demand video which can be accessed individually at the best time and location for the student, either at home or together with other students at Foundations.
Credits are transferable to our two partner Universities. There is no guarantee that all credits will transfer on a 1:1 basis to other schools, because individual universities map credits earned at other universities to their own degree requirements. Both Colorado Christian and LeTourneau are four-year, accredited universities and state that their Dual Enrollment credits transfer to many colleges and universities nationwide.
We encourage students to contact the college or university that they wish to attend to confirm that the institution will accept transfer credits from our college partners.
Students who are in the 11th and 12th grades and are earning B grades or above in their studies should be able to successfully study Dual Enrollment courses. In some cases, students who are in 9th or 10th grade may also take one or two Dual Enrollment courses. Depending on the course chosen, pre-requisites and/or other requirements may be needed.
Students who are not ready for Dual Enrollment courses may take our regular high school courses which include: Bible, Humanities, Math, Science, and Elective courses. Dual Enrollment courses could be added gradually to a student’s schedule when the student is ready.
