Tell us a little about yourself. 

What is your favorite Bible verse or passage and why?

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; 

they will run and not grow weary, 

they will walk and not be faint.

Isaah 40:31

This was the first Bible verse my mother encouraged me to remember and it holds a special place in my heart!

Besides the Bible, what is your favorite book and why?

I read The Great Gatsby in high school, and it was taught by 

an amazing teacher who really brought the novel to life. She asked a lot of deep questions that helped her students make personal connections. She was one of the teachers who inspired me to be a teacher.

If you could make 1 major change to education, 

what would it be?

In public education, I would love to see a move away from all the emphasis placed on standardized testing in assessment practices. Students learn in many different ways, and for some students with test anxiety, this practice does not give a true assessment of a student’s performance.

What aspects of Foundation First's model 

do you find most appealing?

I love that I can infuse my faith and share the loving message of the gospel story throughout the day and across subject areas with my students. Having the opportunity to come alongside parents, and truly partner with them in their child’s education, both academically and spiritually, 

is an honor and a privilege for me.

Do you have any unique teaching methods 

you use to engage students?

• Every child is a different kind of flower and all together, make this world a beautiful garden. 
• Every child in your class is someone's whole world.
• Every child is gifted; they just unwrap their packages at different times.
